Wave & Resolve; What the F-Buttons Do

by alexis

In the comments of my previous blog entry, Ron Nichols asked what the F-buttons (F1-9) do on the Wave control surface. Here’s a breakdown, arranged in a grid to show the logic of the arrangement:

F7 Undo                                        F8 Redo                                F9 Next Node

F4 Save Still                           F5 Toggle Split                      F6  Previous Node

F1 Add Dissolve Mark           F2 Add Mark                            F3 Lift Mark

To answer Ron’s last question, the ALT button doesn’t do anything to the best of my knowledge.

Since I’m talking about the Wave, it’s come to my attention that it’s not only useful for DaVinci Resolve and Apple Color. It turns out all kinds of applications are using the Wave, including:

  • SCRATCH
  • Speedgrade
  • Neo 3D/HD
  • Bones
  • Piranha
  • RAIN & MIST
  • YoYo
  • PF Clean
  • SilverStack
  • RedcineX
  • Color Finesse

Pretty neat for a low-cost grading surface.

The alt key in Davinci 9 does enable certain options depending on the menu you are in
“Power Window”
It gives you a “+” option enabling you to add a type of power window.

Thank you for the information on the F-keys.
